Following Jesus On The Narrow Road

What does it mean to truly follow Jesus? In Matthew 7, Jesus describes following Him as entering through a narrow gate and walking a narrow road that leads to life. As Pastor Adam wraps up NewHope Church’s 13-week Sermon on the Mount series, he challenges us to consider whether our lives are actually moving in the direction of Jesus—or simply reflecting the direction of the crowd.
Following Jesus means more than receiving salvation; it means surrendering the right to define our lives on our own terms. It means choosing Jesus’ way over our way and learning to want what He wants. Pastor Adam explains how the Holy Spirit helps transform our desires over time as we yield to Him, reminding us that spiritual maturity isn’t simply having enough discipline to do what Jesus wants—it’s increasingly wanting what Jesus wants.
This message also challenges us to be intentional about who influences us, to invite trusted people to speak into our lives, and to examine the fruit our lives are producing. As the Sermon on the Mount comes to a close, the question isn’t simply whether we know what Jesus said. The question is whether we will live it. Following Jesus means refusing to waste our lives and choosing to be fully surrendered to Him.
