We believe that NewHope Groups is the front door to community at NewHope Church. Growing in your relationship with Jesus is much more fun when you're surrounded with people who have the same goal.

We understand that life can be unpredictable and being a part of a NewHope Group is an important step in your personal discipleship journey. Jesus says in Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

To foster commitment and unity within our NewHope Groups, all participants will be asked to sign a covenant. This covenant is a shared agreement that each member commits to being an active part of the group for the entire semester. You can preview the covenant here. Alpha is a 10 week group all about exploring the Christian faith with others. It is designed for people who are new to Christianity, have questions about Christianity and interested in learning more about its foundational beliefs.

Rooted FULL

Rooted is a eleven-week, group experience that explores 7 rhythms of our lives as followers of Jesus. Both new believers and seasoned believers are encouraged to participate in this group as a front door to finding and building community within NewHope Church. Each participant will receive a Rooted workbook and that cost is $20. Rooted meets at the church.

This group will meet at NewHope. Surrendering the Secret is a group offering healing and hope for women wounded by abortion. During our time together you will be renewed by the love of the Father, His amazing grace, forgiveness, and peace. This class is for any woman who has emotional or spiritual wounds from her own choice, or if she was involved with assisting a friend or loved one with their decision. Divorce Care

Durham, NC

DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you find healing from the pain of separation or divorce. At this 12-week, video-based support group, you’ll find helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil and practical tools for decision-making. The group will be emphatic towards your feelings and what you’re struggling with—because they’re facing similar challenges. Everyone’s story is different, and you’ll be accepted right where you are. Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts

Durham, NC

This group meets at NewHope and is for couples only. Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts (SYMBIS) has become the gold standard in marriage preparation. In this 10-week class you will join other couples as together you journey through this comprehensive program designed specifically for today’s couples by a couple. Drs. Les & Leslie Parrotts’ award-winning faith-based approach to pre-marital counseling incorporates twenty years of feedback, research, and professional experience.
Participants will need to purchase the following books for the group:
Women: Saving Your Marriage Before It Begins workbook for women and Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts: Seven Questions to Ask Before and After You Marry

This group meets in Durham. We are a young women’s group - no matter what season of life you are in, we hope you will join us in fellowship. We have students, those beginning their careers, and those established in their career in our group. We have single, dating, and married women in our group. Young adulthood is full of transitions and growth - our vision is to build a waypoint, a space for rest with a community where we can do life together and learn from one another. Each week we grab lunch on our way over and spend time in the word, with time for fellowship after. We'll be studying the book of Ephesians.

Eviction Notice

This group will meet virtually. Managing spaces is critical in life. While we've optimized, and made entertaining, managing physical spaces, we as believers often neglect managing our spiritual spaces. This can lead to strongholds and stumbling blocks that hinder our walk towards holiness. Eviction Notice is a course that is designed to strengthen the believer and give God's people knowledge and wisdom so they may identify poorly managed spiritual spaces and fully surrender to the Holy Spirit. This is original curriculum written by Elliott G. Holliday.

We strive to learn more and do more with our one and only life here on earth, becoming more Christ-like as we do. This group will meet virtually on Zoom. It’s easy to feel like you’re the only one in your situation. This group in will meet in Cary/Apex. Would you like to read and understand the context of the New Testament before the end of 2024? Better yet, would you like to read it alongside a group of people doing the same thing, getting together to support and encourage each other? If this is you- this group is for you!
We will read together the New Testament in chronological order on a daily basis for 92 days (3 months) using The Bible Recap reading plan by Tara Leigh-Cobble on YouVersion and will meet to discuss what we have learned ,encourage one another other to continue to read the Word of God and understand the context & background of the New Testament.
Each participant will need to purchase " The Bible Recap Discussion Guide: Weekly Questions for Group Conversation on the Entire Bible" by Tara Leigh-Cobble.

Armchair Quarterback FULL

A place for guys of all ages to get together, have fun, and talk about Jesus and football. We will each fill out a bracket capturing our predictions for the 2024/2025 NFL season. No experience required. Our meetings will include food and discussions on NFL teams and games, as well as watching some NFL game highlights. This Fall we will discuss the book called Habits, by Marcus Goodloe, for the purpose of helping us, as men, to be better leaders in our homes, our workplaces, our neighborhoods, and our communities. Our group is a mix of singles and couples ranging in age from their 30s into their 70s. We meet in our home in Durham. In our group, we keep it real with each other and share life experiences through the Gospel as we strive to grow closer to Christ! For the Fall semester, the curriculum we will use is The After Party, which is a six-session course on RightNow Media that helps Christians overcome toxic polarization by advancing a Christ-centered political identity. Theology and Mission of God

This group will meet virtually. Living for Jesus requires knowing Jesus, and understanding core doctrines helps us to know Jesus. This study will lead group members out of their comfort zones and into deeper spiritual maturity as they study and apply core doctrines from the global Church. We will meet in a home located in Durham and everyone is welcome. We are open to both more seasoned Christians and those discovering the love of God. By doing this fellowship, we hope for the light of God to dispel darkness, and we will share the love of the Almighty God. Pickleball for Jesus FULL

Pickleball for Jesus (PBJ) is a movement of Spirit filled believers that are passionate about shining the light of Jesus through the sport of pickleball, as a natural extension of our everyday walk with God (Matthew 5:16). We seek to play with love, joy, peace, grace and patience, and we commit to encourage, teach, and extend God's love to others in the community. We meet in a NW Cary public park (McCrimmon). This group is open to men and women of all ages. No experience required. Bring your pickleball paddle if you have one. Some are available to borrow if just starting/learning.

The Called FULL

'The Called'’ is a men’s group built on a foundation of fellowship, Bible study, and service. We are men at various stages of life who are called by the Holy Spirit to share their God-given knowledge, skills, and abilities. Proverbs 27:17 tells us that iron sharpens iron. Our fellowship and studies seek to identify and cultivate the Christlike character God uniquely designed within each of us so that we can be the faithful servants, fathers, coaches, leaders, and mentors He intended. We meet virtually weekly and spend time together face to face as we put our faith into action and serve our community. This group will meet virtually. Everyone has faced disappointments, struggles, and mistakes in life that have left our emotions and perception of ourselves, others, and God lacking. Too often we focus on our failures and not on the process of becoming who God has called us to be. This group will look at how we can learn to overcome our setbacks and learn about overcoming our negative mindsets. My goal is to create a safe space of sisterhood where we can discuss the book, video, and questions as we connect with God and one another, heal emotionally, and experience wholeness. What can I expect when joining a Group?

You can expect a welcoming, open environment and life-giving community with people sharing a common goal to grow in faith and look more like Jesus. Light refreshments are often provided.

Do I need to bring anything to my Group?

We reccomend bringing a Bible, pen and journal to any Group meeting. Additonally, a Group may be journeying through a book or video series and additional Group specific curriculum may be needed. But don't worry, you're Group leader will let you know!

How long do Groups meet?

Groups are semester based with sessions lasting 6-12 weeks.
