Take Control Of Your Thought Life
Pastor Adam Bishop

**Your thoughts matter more than you may realize.** In this message, Pastor Adam begins a new teaching series on mental and emotional health by challenging the idea that spiritual growth can be separated from the health of our minds and emotions. Spiritual maturity involves more than prayer, Bible study, worship, and serving—it also means learning how to recognize and respond to what is happening within us.
One of the key ideas from this message is that our **emotions can serve as indicators**. Like a check-engine light, an emotion may be pointing to something deeper that needs our attention. Our thoughts can influence our emotions, which influence our attitudes and ultimately our actions. That’s why Scripture calls us to take our thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ. Rather than believing every thought or trusting every feeling, we can pause and ask: *What is behind this emotion? Is there a thought or belief driving it? Does it line up with the truth of God’s Word?*
The good news is that we don’t have to fight these battles alone. We can renew our minds through Scripture, replace lies with truth, seek wise Christian counsel when deeper roots need to be addressed, and continually set our minds on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. Above all, we can speak the name of Jesus and remember His promise that we are never alone. This message is an encouraging and practical look at **Christian mental health, emotional health, anxiety, renewing your mind, spiritual maturity, and learning to take control of your thought life through the truth of God’s Word.**
