And Forgive Us Our Debts, As We Also Have Forgiven Our Debtors

Forgiveness is one of the most powerful and challenging teachings of Jesus. In the Lord’s Prayer, we’re invited to pray, “forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” This isn’t about whether others deserve grace—it’s about recognizing the mercy we’ve already received through Christ. Jesus paid our debt in full, offering us complete and unconditional forgiveness. When we remember that truth, it becomes the foundation for how we forgive others—not out of obligation, but out of gratitude for the grace that set us free.

True forgiveness leads to freedom—not just for others, but for ourselves. It’s not about forgetting the pain or pretending it never hurt. It’s a daily decision to release bitterness, reflect on the mercy of Jesus, and walk in emotional and spiritual healing. As we grow in our Christian faith, we learn that forgiveness is a process—especially when it comes to forgiving ourselves. But every time we choose to forgive, we echo the heart of the Gospel and experience the life-changing power of grace.
