Welcome to NewHope Groups!

We believe that NewHope Groups is the front door to community at NewHope Church.

Growing in your relationship with Jesus is much more fun when you're surrounded with people who have the same goal. Each semester opportunities for friendship, connection, bible study, building healthy marriages, leadership development, and mens and womens groups are availble to you!

We understand that life can be unpredictable and being a part of a NewHope Group is an important step in your personal discipleship journey. Jesus says in Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”

To foster commitment and unity within our NewHope Groups, all participants will be asked to sign a covenant. This covenant is a shared agreement that each member commits to being an active part of the group for the entire semester. You can preview the covenant here. We appreciate your dedication to this meaningful experience!

Practicing The Way Course (In-Person)

41 spots open

This group is for Next Gen leaders who are currently serving in NH Kids, NH Students, and NH C&YA's. Practicing the Way is an 8‑week discipleship course from John Mark Comer designed to help followers of Jesus live as apprentices—learning how to be with Jesus, become like Him, and do as He did. Through weekly teaching, guided conversation, and simple spiritual practices, the course invites participants to slow down and intentionally order their lives around Jesus in our fast‑paced, distracted culture. Each session introduces a core aspect of spiritual formation and a corresponding practice—such as prayer, Sabbath, and community—that creates space for real transformation over time. This course is especially well‑suited for those who serve regularly, offering a meaningful yet sustainable pathway for spiritual growth while honoring the rhythms of summer and family life. This in‑person summer group will create space for Kids and NextGen volunteers to intentionally grow together as apprentices of Jesus. Each week, participants will gather for teaching, discussion, and prayer centered on the Practicing the Way course by John Mark Comer. The heart of this group is communal formation—learning and practicing the way of Jesus alongside people we already serve with, building deeper relationships while grounding our lives more fully in Christ. The group begins on Monday, 6.15 and meets at the church. We will pause on Monday, 6.29 and 8.17. Childcare is available and children must be registered before the semester begins.. Each participant will need to purchase the book, "Practicing the Way" by John Mark Comer. (Let Caleb know if you're unable to acquire a copy or if cost is an obstacle) When registering for the group, the leader will respond back within 24 hours via text or email to confirm your attendance and commitment to the group.

Practicing the Way Course (Hybrid)

16 spots open

This group is exclusively for those currently serving in NH Kids. This hybrid summer group offers flexibility for those whose summer schedules make a weekly evening gathering challenging, while still emphasizing intentional formation and community. Participants will engage the same Practicing the Way course content, with weekly touchpoints for connection and conversation. The hybrid option allows individuals to engage at their own pace while still experiencing the encouragement and accountability of shared spiritual practices with fellow servants. Each participant will need to purchase the book, "Practicing the Way" by John Mark Comer. The groups begins on Thursday, 6.18 at 10am and we'll pause on Thursday, 7.2. We'll meet in South Durham near the church. When signing up for the group, the leader will respond back within 24 hours via text or email to confirm your attendance and commitment to the group.
